Search archives for posts about JB Weld and POR15. Members have used either IIRC for dealing with rust and porcelain on steel.
There are various theories out there on rust treatment. Some say that even with using products like POR!5 it is like covering over a cancer. That is the rust is till under whatever coating and will continue eating away at metal. Others swear by such repairs/treatments, so there is quite a bit of range there. Also IIRC some sand down or otherwise remove as much rust from area, then apply POR15 or similar product. When dry and cured apply one or more coatings of epoxy paint, in particular those meant to repair chips, cracks in porcelain sinks, tubs, china, etc.... www.homedepot.com/p/Magic... You obviously want something that will stand up to high water temperatures and harsh detergents. |
