Did they ever make a full sized washing machine back in the day under their " Universal" line? I remember somewhere seeing online a pic of a counter top model. Living in CT that would be something cool to find.

There was a Universal brand washer and dryer (including a monstrous all-in-one-cabinet washer and dryer) but I don't think Landers Frary and Clark made them.  LFC were mostly makers of smalls like coffee perks, toasters, and waffle irons.

Universal majors were made by Cribben & Sexton Company at 680 N. Sacramento in Chicago, Illinois. You can check this by looking at dishwasher ratings in old Consumer Reports.

While Universal gas ranges were made by Cribben & Sexton, the major electric appliances were not. LF&C made them in CT in the earlier years, but starting in the early 50's, production was moved to Lima, OH. The name was licensed to Artkraft Manufacturing, which merged with another company to become Universal Major Electric Appliances, Inc. Any automatic washer under that name would have been made there. Use search on here - Universal Lima, OH and you will find detailed info.
