Did all 1 to 18 dryers use the same rollers/idler/ belt? Does anybody have part numbers or source for these? I can't find a parts list for this model.

1-18 Dryer parts

Hi jeffery, most parts were common to all 10 years of production, Motor, Belt, idler Pulley, front and rear drum seals, Rollers etc.

One interesting thing, they started out with three rollers in the rear, two in the front and later went to just two front and rear.

The later system with just two rear rollers is much better, the original three roller system was very had to ever get to run smoothly.

These were top rated good performing dryers [ CRs top pick in the early 70s along with Maytag A606 ] but very poor durability , needless to say the Maytag washers always outlasted the FD dryer, even FDs 1-18 washers also almost always outlasted the 1-18 dryer.

The only time you ever find a decent condition FD 1-18 dryer s when someone used it very lightly.

Weakness

Hi John, what would you say was the weakest component on these dryers? Or was it just an overall poor design?

Does anyone have a replacement idea? I found 1 roller on e bay. has anyone retro fitted with another roller? I hate to scrap this dryer for lack of rollers because the matching washer is in great shape

parts

based on the condensed parts list, there is 1 belt for all 1/18 dryers (638957) and the roller was available as an assy (9956509) or just the "ring" (1129914)
