Just like that, an obscurity written by the late-Walt Becker and Donald Fagen that their group Steely Dan never recorded, “Giles Of The River” (just like “I Mean To Shine” recorded by Barbra Streisand, making its debut on her album BARBRA JOAN STREISAND, that Fagen played organ on and saw a couple other versions by Diahann Carroll and Barbara MNair) which John Kay of Steppenwolf did record, of which I should have kept my copy of JK’s MY SPORTIN’ LIFE for...
That is: ALL THE RECORD STORES CLOSED, so it’s too late to go and see if I can find near me... Just wondering if any of you have and get a decent copy of? — Dave CLICK HERE TO GO TO DaveAMKrayoGuy's LINK |

I’m actually ordering Denny Doherty’s THE COMPLETE ABC/DUNHILL MASTERS, so that includes his version, which turned me onto and made me aware of the John Kay version I had before, which I’m visualizing a copy of, at either Dearborn‘s Dearborn Music, or Eastpointe’s Memories and Melodies...
I was somehow not even as curious about the Becker/Fagen writing credits, dismissing it as “another” “I Mean To Shine”, pitched at a fellow-ABC artist, just recording away from his group... — Dave |

Well, the mail-order route vs. the making my rounds to the still-closed up brick ‘n mortar places yielded a better find, than I could get locally though along with it, more debt:
