Our '57 GE J-408 "Liberator" 40" double oven range that is presently under restoration has serious rust in the floor of the smaller oven. I'd prefer to replace the oven liner with a good part rather than repair it.
GE made this type of 40" small/large double oven range for quite a few years: > does anyone know what other years' liners might interchange with '57/58? > anyone have a GE 40" double oven range for parts? Will get pics of the problem area, meantime any info or parts assistance much appreciated! Roger A

Most likely they are the same from '57 through sometime in the 80's, when GE discontinued making them. Hotpoint 40" models beginning in the early 70's were the same as GE. After that, GE and Hotpoint brand 40" ranges were made for them by WCI, and are totaly different. I'm sure John L. will know for sure. |

Hi Roger,
I have an extra '57 but I think the inside of the ovens may have some rust. I can check for you, but I'll have to move some stuff out of the way so it may be a day or two. Also, please document what you're doing with your stove, especially when it comes to the sensi-temp. One of the reasons I bought the spare stove was to swap the sensi-temps out, but that didn't work. Our next idea was to swap the sensi-temp burner with a regular 8" from the donor stove and use the piano key, but that didn't work out, either. Jeannine |
