As big as that drum is, they have toasted some fabrics on the back of it; maybe a bad vent.

I was thinking the same thing Tom.  This is an early version of the big load dryer given it has the older style control panel.  Kind of rare.  Not sure I've ever seen that particular lint filter before.

This is a BOL-ish large capacity dryer.  Only has 3 heats (high, low, air), but it does have an optional End-of-Cycle signal.  However, it does have 2 "Automatic" cycles - Regular and Permanent Press.  From about 1970.

We had this same dryer at our cottage for years

but the only things different about ours was there was no switch to turn off the buzzer and the door handle was the regular skinny kind you found on the standard capacity GE dryers of the day. PATRICK COFFEY
