Well Johnb300m found out the same. His GE had a couple of significant problems and he ended up replacing his with a Kitchenaid.

We had purchased almost that same model Ge Profile here in Florida in 2011, we replaced it 5 years later due to when it ran it would smell like something was burning in it. We did not find anything on the heating coil or underneath. We have a whole GE profile kitchen, Stove, Fridge, Microwave and DW. My wife did not trust it so we replaced it with a Bosch 800 series and are very satisfied. We had a Bosch in our house in Pennsylvania.

Yeah I had the same GE profile dw from 2015.
The racks started rusting and an intermittent leak formed from the main pump after two years. Performance was always spotty. Terrible washing in the upper rack corners. Seam splits in the lower wash arm I had to glue. Too bad cuz it’s a solidly built chassis. Just with substandard parts. Went with a KitchenAid after that. Much much better machine. And far more consistently clean dishes. I JUST moved last week. House has a Maytag dw, aprox. 4yrs old. Excellent performer as well. Parts look brand new still. |

how many months years would you give my mom and i before having to replace or have a service tech check the dishwasher depending on the option before my mom and i have to replace it just a technical question? because 1 night started the dishwasher was full dishwasher shutdown by itself at start of cycle restarted the cycle so went true the whole cycle i think the dishwasher my mom and i bough end of december 2016 start of 2017 is a lemon but no service tech so hard to say

Hi Pierre,
It's really hard to say. It could limp around for years, or just fail out in a few months. My bottom rack was rusting under all the tines, and it probably would've gone for a few more years till everything got rusty to the point of falling apart. It's hard to say if my little motor leak would've vanished on its own, or gushed all over the motor in time. My parents have a 5yr old GE dishwasher of this style, and theirs held up better than mine. Theirs does have an intermittent motor squeal. But no leaks. I've checked already. If it's having electrical issues with cycles running now, I think that might only get worse in time. In what amount of time? I have no idea I would just suggest saving up now for a repair or replacement. |
