I didn't even know the Swiss made laundry equipment. They would be the only ones on the block if someone in this country had them, for sure!

Are they as expensive as a Patek Philippe?

Are they actually made in Switzerland or are they rebadged equipment from elsewhere?

Beautiful machines!

Yes, Schulthess machines are still made in Switzerland (in Wolfhausen).

There are more Swiss brands. Some of their cheaper models are bought from other manufacturers but in general the more expensive models are still made in Switzerland.

Merker (owned these days by Schulthess)

V-Zug (pronounced vow tsoog):

There are several other brands that sell V-Zug appliances under a different name like Sibir and some Novamatics and in the past Girbau.

Supersuds, yes, they are quite expensive being Swiss made of course, they are the washing machine equivalent to a Swiss watch

petek, yes, they are made in Switzerland and it's their own design too, except for the cheapest Spirit Eco model that's made by Bosch :)

Swiss Washing Machine

Schulthess Spirit and topLine washing machines are excellent!
By far, Schulthess has the fastest washing machines for domestic sage if connected to 400 Volt, but even with 230 Volt very fast. Washing and rinsing performance is very good, rinsing became better with this new generation, since they really separate standard programs from eco programs, which however, are not the EU-label Eco-Programs. Schulthess washing machines are very popular in multi-housing laundry rooms, because they are fast, durable and easy to use. I like Miele, V-ZUG and Schulthess, but every brand has a little disadvantage, if I only could combine them into one brand haha. I prefer the "Schontrommel" with many tiny little holes over the Miele Honeycomb drum. V-ZUG does not have a metal outer drum, but is the best when it comes to user-friendliness, program-selection and logic, has steam-ironing and a very big drum, VibrationAbsorbing improved, so it does not take too long for balancing when spinning. Schulthess does not offer steam-ironiing, what a pity. Miele has still best built quality, very complex machine, maybee too complex, but cylce time are too long for my taste, even with quick and QuickPowerWash has poor rinsing performance...

The Swiss are notably

more well known for their time pieces of course, and Credit Suisse, and the bank of international settlements, and also the first large scale super hedron partical beam atom collider near Geneva. Let's not forget the WHO home base also!
They have also made vehicles under license from Chrysler, etc. The Dodge Diplomat renamed and with a unique front and rear facia treatment. A fairly well known Swiss exotic car co. is Sbarro, and there was Monteverdi, back in the 70's. I think they used a Chrysler or Chevrolet V8 engine, as several makers have. Iso Griffo in Italy, Gordon Keeble in England, etc.
Two model train items on my bucket wish list are Swiss. A Fulgrex, and a Lemaco. If Rolex made model trains, those would be it. Marklin made a few ho scale SBB CE 6/8 crocodile locomotives in platinum in the late 90's as anniversary exclusives for a few privleaged collectors priced @ $33,000.00 U.S. Then they did them in Z scale of 18 or 24 karat gold last decade as well.
I think my chances of going to tour Switzerland "canton of Helvetica" along with the Jungfrau are far better.
The Ghotard bahn, and Bern Lostchberg Simplon railway lines are awesome with all the mountains, bridges, and tunnels. Travelers going by way of the newly built base tunnels will miss a lot of scenery.

Their washers are their own design, judging from programm selection, features and drum their dryers however seem to be based on a BSH design.

I have to say that I do not care for the styling of these particular machines. I think they're rather ugly.
