SQ TC5 Classic (TC5000WN): Any hacks to fill with LESS water?

TC5 has only two fill levels for each cycle, one without the Deep Wash option selected and one with Deep Wash.� The specific levels vary a little per the selected cycle.� This info is from a year ago, they may or may not have adjusted it on later production.

Normal Eco = 9" (13 gal) or 11" (16 gal)

Heavy Duty = 10" (14.5 gal) or 13" (19 gal)

Perm Press = 10" (14.5 gal) or 13" (19 gal)

Delicate = 10" (14.5 gal) or 13" (19 gal)

Bulky/Sheets = 11" (16 gal) or 13" (19 gal)

The adjustment you recall is more likely to increase the level than decrease it, that's what most people want on new machines that have restricted levels.� It's done by an adjustment screw on the water level pressure switch.

However, that assumes the machine of question has mechanical controls and/or an old-style level switch that can be adjusted.� TC5 has an electronic control board.� If the pressure sensor is an electronic device integrated into the board, then it has no adjustment.

TC5 is not an HE model and the higher levels are touted as one of its benefits.� Perhaps you weren't aware of that when you purchased it?

Checkrate/Likes I have a Speed Queen TC5 Classic and with only two people not generating a lot of clothing to be washed weekly, have found that many times, even with the smallest fill cycle selected (ECO), it fills more water in the tub than needed. Additionally, I am reluctant to do the occasional very small load (i.e., just a few items) because of the larger amount of water used. I seem to recall running across a posting somewhere here (which I can't find now), that someone mentioned a hack to use less water. I assume this means to alter the machine's behavior somehow, but perhaps it meant something else. If this sounds familiar to anyone or if there is other advice as to how I can fill the tub with less water than normal, please let me know!

Checkrate/Likes The water level issue is precisely why I�m glad I have a 2017 9 Series which has 4 water levels. Why on God�s green earth would they take away of flexibility have lower water levels for small-to-medium loads? Makes no sense.

Checkrate/Likes It's like they dont fully listen to feedback from their customer base I guess. Yeah....they brought the transmission back but gave you less user control.I agree it makes no sense at all. Must be some government mandate because I don't understand why a privately owned business wouldn't just give the customer the flexibility. Thank God i still have a 2013 AWN432.Still looks and performs great for sitting in a basement for 7 years.

Checkrate/Likes *TC5 may be harder to adjust with electronics* Including small, medium, large, extra-large options on the TC like my 2017 AWN92SP has could save water. SQ's rolled out the TC models out to meet DOE regs on water use, they were terrible, then SQ found a loophole, and brought out the classic style TC5 with knobs like the mechanical AWN432 washerbut electronics like the push button AWNE82/92. Electronics on the TC5 may make it harder to adjust water levels and if you adjust them down deep fill may no longer fill it to the top. The SQ TC5 is a solid machine very similar to 2017 SQ's and along with the Maytage commercial the only TL's I'd consider buying. ... the �new� TC5000 is basically a 2017 SQ in disguise, but for some reason, not quite as good... Checkrate/Likes I have the 2017 series 8. It�s all that was available in Canada at the time of purchase. Mine has 3 water levels but they make no sense at all. Medium and large are only 1-2 inches apart (full tub of water and 95% full tub of water!) and small is very small. I do find this annoying.
