Well, after our Maytag Jetclean bit the dust, I've been looking for a good used dishwasher that actually washes, and I think I found it. I've heard great things about KitchenAid dishwashers, specifically the kds-18, and found what looks to be a very low mileage example on Facebook Marketplace for $40.. Going to pick it up today or tomorrow.. Anything I should know before I make the purchase? Looks nearly new inside, clean, no rust or broken tines and the seller says it has no issues.. Educate me!

Check the Sump where the heating coil goes through the tank.

Remove the Wash Arm, Filter and see if there is any rust around the element and tank.

These are such great machines, but that rust can ruin the tank/sump.

Other than that... Good Luck. I hope you get it.

Well, it's looking like the seller is going to sell it to someone else... Probably someone from here, says they are coming from Ohio.. Well guess I didn't need a good dishwasher after all.

that's interesting, i live in ohio, columbus and milford, but it's not me. i've been working on a kds-18 of my own here lately.

if you happen to get it after all, or another one pump seals are available on ebay for about 7 bucks each, i just bought 3 or 4 last month.

later on this spring i'll go thru my inventory and see if i have a kitchenaid 18-20 model i want to part with. keep watching ebay and craigslist also, i see them pop up on occasion. good luck!

You'll find another.  I see them frequently and they usually aren't asking much for them.
