Hi!

I'm from Sweden and went on vacation to Antibes in France in the summer of 2012. There we used a detergent/washing powder with a LOVELY scent that I've since been on a hunt to find! My sister in law is quite sure that it was Ariel colour & style, I myself can't remember the packaging at all.

Here in Sweden the Ariel scents are completely different and go under the name A+. They are very subtle, crisp, cold and fresh while the one I remember had a quite strong scent that lingered and it was a warm, cottony scent, nothing natural about it at all but still extremely addicting and soothing :)

I've come to realise that the products available vary a lot between countries. Does anyone know if France has the same versions as any other country? Does my scent description ring a bell to anyone or do you know if and when Ariel have changed their formulations/scents in France or anywhere between 2012 and now?

I've tried ordering on amazon and ebay but it's not the easiest (especially right now), and I've always ended up with the wrong version so far. This might seem like a silly mission to have, but IF the scent still exists somewhere on the planet I simply must get my hands on it!! :)

All the best!

A, Sweden

As far as I know...

Ariel made by P&G that is sold across Europe is the same scent. The only Ariel scent I know that France have that the UK (where I am) doesn't have/hasn't had for a long time is Ariel "Alpine" and even then I have used French Ariel Alpine and it doesn't smell like the Ariel Alpine I remember .

So that answers the question of if they change scent, answer will be a resounding yes - they are ALWAYS tinkering with the formula and scents.

On a side note though, Ariel "A+" is NOT manufactured by Proctor and Gamble "P&G" (the owners of Ariel), it is manufactured under licence from them by a company called "BlueSun", so whilst I have never smelt or used Ariel A+ and can't 100% confirm, the Ariel A+ may not carry the same scent as Ariel from P&G.

If it helps, the only other Ariel I can remember that is no longer around (and I don't know if France have it) is Ariel "Almond and Honey" or it may have been "Milk and Honey" or some variation of that, I can't quite remember the exact name.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your reply! Good to know that the P&G scents are the same and as you said - the scent I'm looking for is most likely discontinued.

At the moment I have some P&G at home, pods and a german liquid, they don't smell identical though.

The BlueSun version, A+, have kind of similar scents to the P&G but softer. I guess the thing is that they remind me more of dishwashing liquid or just allround cleaning products than nicely perfumed laundry.

The hunt continues! I might not find that but maybe something similar. Nice to have some more clarity. Thank you again!

You're

Welcome :)

Yes it's normal for each format of Ariel (most detergents infact) to smell slightly (sometimes completely) different depending on the format type.

Can only really comment from a U.K. perspective (haven't used all that many of others countries detergents), but our Ariel powder, smells different to the liquid and again different to the gel and again to the pods.

They are always "in keeping" with each other, and I can definitely tell an Ariel detergent from it's smell alone but there are definite differences between each type - would assume it'd be impossible for an identical scent in a different format, eg wet vs dry.

I have the "Original" scent Ariel in Powder, Liquid and Pods and whilst I *love* the smell of the pods, the liquid I don't hate but wouldn't say I love either, the powder is nice

Happy hunting, Amazon is starting to get back to somewhere near "normal" now in terms of products and international shipping so should get easier, but Amazon France may still be closed at the moment.
