Grinding sounds are usually bearings. Described as sounding like gravel, a plane takeing off, trains going by etc. For what ever reason on their TLs the bearings are actually replaceable and are around 100€ for both sides. |

And spin the drum pulley can you hear the sound more clearly? Youtube has a couple of videos. A quick google of "aeg toplader bearing" brought some up. It looks to be a fun project. |

Thanks all. Is this a simple operation? There is a big concrete weight attached to the drum and i wonder if it is necessary to remove it when changing bearings. Thanks again. |

requires an odd tool to remove or you need to be creative using other tools in order to spin it off. I agree that its so sad that AEG in the past made magnificent appliances. I wonder if the engineers moved to Miele? |
