Got a trusty KitchenAid stand mixer that’s been with me since about 2000. Lately the speed selector will spring right out of the off position to the stir speed. I took the top off but couldn’t see anything weird... looks like the mechanism itself has a little wobble to it. Is there any quick fix to this?

You can unplug the speed selector and remove it for closer inspection. It's easy and may help you identify the source of the problem. I did this when the selector on my sister's mixer became very difficult to slide. Her selector ended up needing to be replaced but you might have better luck with yours.

The roll pin holding the planetary in is completely stuck. Won’t budge from either side.
