Our Kevin (from Cavalcade of Food) has a new channel on YouTube called 'Always Analog.' You'll find reviews of the above-mentioned typewriter as well as other writing utensils--pens, pencils, etc. He mentions upcoming looks at phonographs and other analog items, as well.
OK, I see the quizzical looks: Reviewing pencils? Here's my response: Absolutely more engaging than you might expect! Have watched three of them and I dare you to pick up a pencil and not immediately notice things about it that never crossed your mind, before.
Here's a link to the typewriter review. Great job, Kevin, and looking forward to more videos! Always Analog definitely has its own look and personality--a wonderful contrast to the Cavalcade-style videos--but you'll recognize that voice immediately.

I'd be interested in the pencil reviews but can't see how to access them. I'm particular about my pencils and really like using mechanical types that take thicker refills of the softest "lead" I can find for them. For basic pencils, I go to an art supply and buy 6B or so, but those require frequent sharpening. |

1. Go to YouTube and type 'Always Analog channel' in the search box and hit return on your keyboard.
2. Click on the channel's icon (which is round and shows a picture of a typewriter). Another window should pop up. Click on 'Videos' and all the videos he's posted so far will pop up on the screen. |

Eugene - thank you for your enthusiasm for Always Analog and for sharing it with others. As much as I love producing the CoF videos, I enjoy sharing what I love about analog technologies with anyone who might be interested.
I'm just editing the next video now, which is a closer look at a 1949 Smith-Corona Clipper typewriter. Hope to have that up on the channel soon. Ralph - I share your like of pencils with a softer core that produce a dark line. I don't use mechanical pencils, only wood-cased pencils because I have a large collection of pencil sharpeners that I love using! I also love the smell of the wood (many manufacturers still use cedar) when a pencil gets sharpened. |
