These are not actually duets or they are not called that anymore. This looks like the WFW6620 that I currently own.

Very good machine. Very water and energy efficient and a great cleaner. Nice assortment of cycles and features. Highly recommend.

Pierre, the WFW6620 does not have alight in it.  You have to get the higher models WFW8620 to get a light inside.

new names and cycle temps

What is the new name for the duets? What is the default temp for each cycle? For example, the normal/regular cycle on washer/matching dryer.

Hi Pierre. As far as water temps are concerned I never measured the temps but the lowest model with a heater is the WFW5620. If you get a Whirlpool make sure it has a sanitize setting.....DO NOT get one that has the setting "sanitize with oxi"...just "sanitize"....these washers are incredibly water miserly but they do have recirculation pumps.

My drying time for a large load of mixed fabrics I found to be dry within 25-30 minutes.

The WFW6620 has high speed interim spins also. Though I don't think it is the full 1160 rpms. Not sure.

Interim Spins?

littlegreeny's profile picture
Previous generation machines wouldn't spin between rinses during the normal cycle. Does the current generation spin between rinses?

That's something I really don't like about WP, MT and Elecrolux FL'ers. I feel like rinsing is inadequate.

My 9 year old Duet spins in-between wash and rinses on all cycles except delicate or handwash.  If a current machine didn't do interim spins on Normal Cycle, I'd never use it anyway.  That's why they call it Normal, people are too stupid to know what goes on in their washers and complain about poor rinsing.  I use cycles for what I expect them to do, not what the label tells me.

On the normal cycle it will spin between the wash and the first rents but just go right into the second rinse

Interim Spins

I have a bad feeling that the reason that manufacturers are starting to eliminate the interim spin is to reduce the amount of water used in the following rinse. However, the result is very poor rinsing and likely dingy clothes, etc. Extra rinses would need to be used on each cycle.

Lack in interim spins

littlegreeny's profile picture
Could also be to shorten cycle times. The previous generation WP/MT washers would do interim spins between all rinses on the heavy duty cycle. I hope it does the same now if you select regular under "what to wash" and heavy duty on "how to wash".

David if I had one to play with and do all the permutations of each of the what to/how to, I could probably figure all that out.

Yes Bob if I did all the different combinations I could probably have found out but as it is now my machine sits off to the side waiting to be picked up

Not to sound slightly off-topic

But how come Whirlpool, Electrolux and GE seem to have switched usefully delicate cycles, like Hand Wash or Silk, in lieu of,say, Active Wear?

The old generation Duets had variety of selection of specialty cycles that could actually benefit some households. I personally use Wool and Hand Wash at least twice a month.

Saw a video of the only Delicate cycle on 600 Series Elux yesterday and was unimpressed. Way too rough for synthetic sweaters, let alone woolen ones.

I agree Washingpowder, in fact, I use the cycles found in my Specialty Cycles" as much as any of the others.

How rough could baffles in a front load actually be ? You have the cushioning effect of the water ?

I love my WP Duets.  I'd like to get these too.  They have the drawer which gives access to the pump clean out and the detergent auto feeder option.

I've also seen these at Lowes as well for like $600

@Appnut, so I'm not the only one lol

@Agiflow, while FL machines are way more gentle that traditional TL, washing wool and silk takes special precautions - matter of fact, even if you hand wash them in a sink. Lifting wet wool can cause stretching. Tumbling it - felting.

I thought the Load & Go was an insert in the detergent drawer. Haven't GE had SmartDispense before that utilized the pedestal? Old is new again eh

Why is your machine off to the side waiting to be picked up? Did you have an issue with it?

Post# 1073113 , Reply# 19   5/18/2020 at 06:37 (1,436 days old) by agiflow3 ()

I'm moving in 3 weeks and I already have machines in place.

The load and go is a 40 load dispense on the WFW6620. It is a dispenser that sits inside the bottom pull out drawer. I believe it is smaller on the 5620.

The 5620 has Sanitize with Oxi.  The 6620 and 8620 just says Sanitize.  I do believe the Energy sticker hs more KWH on the 6620 than the 5620.  I'll opt for one that uses more energy indicating the heater is used in more cycles.

Post# 1073128 , Reply# 22   5/18/2020 at 09:44 (1,436 days old) by agiflow3 ()

The WFW560CHW doesn't have a steam cycle. The WFW5620HW has the regular sanitize and a steam clean option. The only difference between this and the 6620 is that the 5620 has a smaller load and go dispenser.

Washers that advertise "Sanitize with Oxy" is to me a clue that they lack an internal water heater.

Makes sense

Rich! It seems only higher end models eveb have an oxy dispenser. You'd think you'd get the heater first. Even my middle level model has one.
