Speed Queen was offering extended warranties as a promo and now has a paid program called Confidence Plus Extended Warranty. Only info I saw on pricing was $299 per machine. That's on top of these seriously expensive machines the TC5 TL is $1,039 and FF7 FL is $1,889. Maytag commercial TL is around $800 and you can get a FL washer and dryer combo for less than the FF7 cost for just the washer. SQ TCF and FF7 are great machines but they're getting out of reach price-wise.

I would be unlikely to pay more than $50 a machine for the extended warranty and know there are issues with extending warranties. If the $299 per machine or even $299 per set they'd have to get it down to $100 per set with purchase for me to consider it.

Pricing

With extended warrantys, you basicly get into the whole "Is insurance worth it" calculation for both buyer and seller.

A 50$ warranty on a washer will not cover much.
Just getting someone to you is 50$, verry unlikely at that price that you will get any form of service.

Miele over here offers 5 and 10 years as total coverage (so 3 or 8 years more).

5 years 120€, 10 years is 340€.
With Mieles base service fee for getting to you and diagnosis at 100-150€, that makes sense.

It is just much more likely for a Miele machine to need service after the age of 8 then at 5.

So how long is that 299$ for?

You would have thought seeing as they are expensive to buy in the first place that they would have offered a free 5 year warranty with their products or don't they want the risk of too many repairs?

Is it the same with SQ like all other manufacturers they no longer think they can stand by their own products and give their loyal customers something back ????

It seems its the same the world over lets not give our customers anything as they may want more.....

3 year extension

So, it adds 3 years regardless of how long the base warranty is.

That means that the cost of longer warranty times is spread across machines.

The average warranty time after extension is 7,66 years across all machines so assuming all machines would be sold at the same numbers I think that 299$ isn't a horrendus calculation on their side.
It is not unlikely a machine would need a repair in that time.

For their very dear price

Last time one checked Miele does not offer a very long warranty for their laundry or other appliances. There used to be something from them in terms of extended warranty, but am not sure if such a thing still exists.

That being said usual advice from most reputable consumer groups is that extended warranties are sort of a con. By and large with appliances what is going to go wrong will do so within first year or so of operation.

Then of course there is what exactly one is getting for money spent on extended warranty. Something so limited to be barely useful might see persons better off putting that money aside into an emergency kitty.

Happily Amex gold and other credit or charge cards do offer decent to good extended warranty schemes. Thus there might not be a need for something separate at all.

Maytag mvwp575gw for Me

I purchased my Maytag mvwp575gw for $750 almost two years ago, which included free delivery and the 5-year parts and labor warranty. I could almost buy two of them for what it would cost me to buy ONE TC5000 plus that extended warranty (6 years coverage?). I really am skeptical that the SQTC5000wn would last twice as long as the Maytag due to the bearings, which most consumers will not replace. Ironically, from what I understand, the bearings are easier to replace on the Maytag.

The biggest quirk for me regarding the Maytag is that the Normal cycle adds some cold to the hot water setting. I just manually add hot water when needed for smaller loads of whites.

Wash like items with like items, and you won’t have balancing issues.

The Maytag is one of the best cleaning top loads. Its dual action agitator pulls clothes down, in, and through the water well. This is especially a bonus if washing a bulky item like a comforter and heavier soiled items.

Amana, Roper, Conservator have some budget models that features a dual action agitator for under $500.

The TR3003 seems to suggest Speed Queen is going in the direction for their target market which won’t be the best wash performance for sportswear, technical trade uniforms, kids’ clothing, pet items, etc. vs other alternatives or even the TC5000 (information suggests it will only be available until the end of this year due to new DOE guidelines). I have a hard time swallowing that price when my Magic Chef portable washes the same loads I would use the TR series for only $200.

Miele Germany

Is radically different to the jerks (insert far stronger language) running Miele in North America. The German Miele cares about their customers, the people here don't give a flying ....

I wouldn't expect anything from Miele in North America.
