Right now the Desperate Hours, Bogart's last movie is on TV and the family's house is the Cleaver's new house with the big wide front porch. Earlier last week on the George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, Ronnie mentioned that his English professor is Dr. George Baxter. Do you remember him from the Bell Science movies? There is one from 1958 titled the Unchained Goddess about global warming and climate change.

If you watch the movie, at 50:27, you will see old fashion steam shovels. Remember the book Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel? The three little creatures that are the triplet precipitation gods look like the little guys from Despicable Me.

Oh, one other thing about the science films that Capra had a hand in making. They began and ended with statements from the Bible.

There's the Twilight Zone.  Where the thermometer explodes, the oil painting melts, the fan stops,

a guy breaks in to steal water.

The lady wakes up from her dream.  Earth has strayed from its orbit.  The distant sun radiates no warmth.

Everyone is doomed to freeze to death.

The sequence about the extreme heat is her fever dream. She is sick and the doctor is making his last visit. He is taking his family to Miami where it is slightly warmer. And it was the air conditioner that stopped.

Does anyone recognize the washing machine in the Desperate Hours house? It has a vague resemblance to an Easy.

I never read Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, but I remember it from multiple viewings on Captain Kangaroo.

I had trouble also, Tom. There just never was a clear, focused enough shot of it.

And, Chuck's car: was that an Austin Healey? The tail end of it threw me off.

I got a little obsessed about the exterior of the house, particularly the steps up to the porch. There are no steps on LITB, both the original series and "New Leave It To Beaver (1984)".

Have recently watched a few episodes of Everyone Loves Raymond, what are the washers in Raymonds House and Maries. Think its a GE in Raymonds house but not sure at his moms. Anyone's guess?
