It looks like the paint was removed from the metal control panel.

I have that same stove. The paint on the control panel would wipe off when you would try to clean it off. I wiped the rest of mine off too. Must have been a bad year for their paint. My grandparents bought it new.

It's a '64 or later model. That cabinet style was used between '64 and '80.
