This washer needed help when it came out of the box, LOL

Sad bit of appliance history, this is one of many Maytag products that caused Maytag's decline and ultimate sale to Whirlpool.

MT wasted so much money marketing the same old junk rather than improving their products as they had done in the past which caused customers to quickly become disillusioned after paying premium prices for appliances that had too many problems, fortunately people have short memories and WP is making money on Maytag's good old name.

Agreed Mike.

If yes, then it was junk out of the box for sure just like John stated.

I never knew Maytag slapped the Jenn Air name on a washer.  It's a shame that they had to use the Norge platform for a premium brand.

Maytag also used this

for their "Performa line". Many bought them for the lower pricepoint thinking, well, hey, it's a Maytag. Not a "Dependable Care" Maytag though. By the time the public became aware enough, their reputation was damaged due to poor durability.
