Hey every one on AW, hope you guys are doing well amongst these crazy times. I have a question about my Frigidaire 1-18. When I picked it up it was in mint condition and still is. I use it as my daily and works perfect. It looked like a low mileage machine. I need to know is there any kind of maintenance that I need to do to it to keep it up and running in tip top shape? Things like greasing any bearings or fittings. I am amazed at how great the condition is on this thing and LOVE how well it washes and just everything about it. It was my dream machine and I finally got one. I am going to purchase another one I know of for sale here very soon. I wish I knew where to get the fabric softner dispenser. Also, how do I decode the manufacture date, I think in the serial number it is 1978. I will post pictures for help with that. Thanks everyone and hope all stay safe and God bless!!!

A beautiful machine!

It reminds me so much of the Summer I worked in the hardware store that sold Frigidaire. That was in 1977, and we had a washer like that and the matching dryer in Avocado on display.

Thanks for that information. How do you decode the manufacture date? I NEVER use cold water washes, clothes just do not come clean. After several loads, I will run it on a 15 minute wash empty and just add vinegar and baking soda to help eliminate odors and soap scum build up and use Tide or Affresh washing machine cleaner after about 30 loads or so. I have always done this with every washing machine of mine. I have seen what happens when someone doesn't keep the inside tub cleaned with some sort of cleaner and it is so gross. I am hoping there isn't anything else I need to do to keep this machine up and running for many more years! If there is, I am all ears and will do it. It is just very hard for me to physically bend down and other movements like that. Again, thanks for the information/replies thus far!

Eric,

You found a beautiful machine! Attached is a pic of my 1978 set which I used as daily drivers until I moved to Florida. I'm still searching for a 1979 DEEG dryer.

I may still have a NOS dispenser to sell you. Drop me an email and let's see what we can work out.

Rich

Eric, I apologize.  The only reason why I mentioned cold water washing was because the temperature was pointing to cold/cold on the control panel photo above.

Trainguy, ericpippen1985@gmail.com is my e-mail address. I did not see one attached to your profile so I could e-mail about the softner dispenser. I would LOVE to have one for my machine and thank you for the compliment. I am was shocked at how great of condition it is in.
Appnut, that is the pictures the guy that sold it to me sent me. I have pictures and videos of it but they are on my phone and it will not work with this site to upload them. Thanks for all the comments and help you guys, means a lot to me.

Pics should be uploadable into a post from a phone unless yours aren't .jpg format.

Videos can't be uploaded directly to a post from any device.  Typical method is place videos on a YouTube account and link them in posts.  AW site software automatically recognizes YouTube URLs and embeds the video for viewing.
