Howdy!

I am making available exact copies of new Frigidaire lid bumpers in the correct light gray color. These are exact in size and color of factory new. If you would like a set, PM or send me an email. A set of 2, including postage to the lower 48 contingent states is $4. Stock up while I have them available. These were on most of the machines from the late 50's to 60's, maybe others but not sure. In pics 2 and 3, an original is on the left and the copy is on the right.

Cheers!

Bud - Atlanta

If anyone can comment on the bumpers that were on machines earlier or later than late 50's to 60's, please do. Curious to know if they remained the same throughout long production runs. Or perhaps these would cross over to bumpers similar to other manufacturers?? Someone was saying some WP and Kenmore were very similar. Thanks!

Bud,

I'm trying to find out if these were the same for the 1-18's, too. I'll drop you a note soon.

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks .....

I would like to know what else these would fit and look basically correct. Someone else had mentioned some of the older Kenmore and WP models have very similar bumpers.

Perfect!

I ordered a couple of sets, one for my 67 WCDAL and one for my 1/18.  Both are perfect! Takes a little patience to get them on but very satisfied with the results. I'd recommend anyone with a Frigidaire washer order a set. Gotta patronize the guy if you hope he will make other stuff!  The first pic, left to right: original WCDAL, original 1/18, new replacement.  I used a bit of JetDry to help the process.

Steved .....

Thanks for the feedback!

I am so glad to hear they fit 1-18's. The hole they fit in is 1/4". Any machine that requires a grey lid bumper could most likely use these even if the lid hole was smaller ..... simply by drilling out the hole using a 1/4" bit. But the original bumper was modeled after the '62 model year.

And yes, a coat of dish detergent helps them pop in easier, along with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Steve, those look great if I may say so myself. They really do add a finishing detail and make the lid close quieter ..... since they are not rock hard like the old ones. lol

Use ......

some undiluted dish soap to help ease them in. A pair of needle nose pliers also makes it easier. Just be careful not to pinch the rubber too hard while pulling them into place. Also a rocking motion with the pliers side to side while pulling.

thanks for the tip.
I moistened the skinny tip & ridge with dishwasher rinse-aid. And I pressed the bumpers against the lid holes. And with this skinny metal tool we have, with a bent tip, little by little I pushed the ridge all the way around, into the opening.

Here's a picture of the tool I used. I used the 90° angle bent end.

sfh074/Bud,
the lid bumpers fit wonderfully into the lid openings. I can't wait to give Frigidaire FRAN a load to scrub so I can see the difference with the new lid bumpers. I imagine the lid won't be rattling with the softer bumpers
😉😊

Thanks HippieD ......

for the update on the bumpers. So glad you likedthem. How did Fran's next load turn out? Was the lid quieter with the new bumpers?

Made a fresh batch ......

of these lid bumpers. When they are gone, I don't plan on making any more for a long time cause it ain't worth making a pair here and a pair there.

If you want some, let me know else forever hold your peace.  Just sayin .....
