New GE Ultra Vent Front Loader at Costco |

 I was at a local Costco the other day and to my surprise saw a TOL GE Ultra Vent front load washer (Model 850, gray color) on display. Price was reasonable for that model, $1100. But, no matching dryer that I could see, although I figure Costco could get one.
It's a nice machine, with a liquid detergent dispenser in the top drawer, and a huge 5 cu ft capacity. Microban treated front door gasket, too. I was tempted but since I'm so penurious I'm thinking I'll wait. Still...
Anybody else have one of these?
I see the washer/dryer pair are available in white online for $1900. Electric dryer. The other colors are on back order... I'd want the gas dryer, which so far doesn't show up on the Costco site.
What attracts me to this GE model is that the door is reversible, which is a must for my laundry closet. The only other major brand that has this feature is the Electrolux, but those can be harder to find.

New GE FL Pair $1100 for something that might last you ten years and another $1000 for the matching POS GE dryer, you guys should be out in the field trying to repair this crap.
One of our customers bought a TOL GE FL pair about 6 years ago, the GE gas dryer was nothing but problems, GE gave up on it and we tried to repair it twice, out it went and a SQ gas dryer replaced it, about 9 months later the washer followed the dryer out the door when it started sounding like a saw mill [ turned out to have bad motor bearings ]
Her new SQs will serve at least 30 years in this large home, both GEs were sold for scrap.
I know that a lot of the features on the GEs sound like fun and I would take the chance if they actually made my life easier [ like actually drying a big load without switching the clothing to a dryer ] But these machines will take longer and be more problematic than my SQ FL washer and the last thing I want to find when I come home is a broken appliance, LOL

I believe these new Ultra Vent GE washers/dryers are of a different design and manufacture than the older ones you've experienced.
However I'm in no hurry. If my Neptune died tomorrow I have three Mieles and a Frigidaire (older) front loaders to compete to take its place, LOL.
So I can wait for the kudos or complaints about the new GE line to surface. I've seen an unconfirmed report that they are really made by Haier, but when I looked at them in shops I can see anything that indicates they were made in China. As I recall, Haier has a factory in the USA.
