Hi all!
I just signed up today because I have a beautiful, Philco Consolette airconditioner that deserves a new home.
I have to start with an apology - I'm selling it for a friend at an estate sale, so I don't know if that qualifies as a professional sale, which I understand is a big no-no, but I thought maybe I'd give it a shot.

This very large, console is either a model 180-J, 184-J, 1110-J, or a 1104-J. ( Those model numbers are what are listed on the manual. Its original owner is moving to a retirement home and the contents of her home are being sold. (It's okay. She's happy & healthy - she just needs full-time care)
The air conditioner is in mint condition and was last turned on in the 70s. It worked then, I don't know if it works now.

Theres an estate sale this weekend in Philadelphia but this is probably too daunting of a specialty item for a typical shopper. I thought Id look for someone that might have a real interest in preserving this super cool air conditioner, or, just have a direction to point me in.

Thanks in advance!

That is a beautiful piece. If I was closer to it, I would purchase it. However I am across the USA in Arizona. There are others in the NE part of the USA and hopefully someone can save it.

An amazing piece of history right there. Thanks for posting - hopefully someone out east is able to save it.

Love the doodles on the owner's manual. My mother would also draw very similar arrows on scratch paper while chatting on the phone.

Unique item

Does this unit have a grille on an outside wall like a PTAC unit has? Does it operate on 120 or 240 volts?

I've seen older "console" type room air conditioning units before, but they sat directly on the floor - no legs. Some of them were connected to chilled water lines for cooling, and hot water for heating.

This is a beautiful piece but I suspect the average household would have trouble accommodating it as a permanent home furnishing just based on space limitations.  It's a real commitment as far as single room AC goes.

I'd be interested in its cooling capacity, logistics for installation, and noise level.  If anyone here gets it, you might want to budget for travel expenses and get David (turbokinetic) on the scene to check it out and make any necessary repairs.
