Back when I was a kid, I would look for print news ads such as this, then color in all the appliances. Of course my favorites were the ads put out by Peterson's Maytag. I loved that... |

When did Philco get out of the Appliance market? It seems I remember them being Philco, then Philco-Ford. Then nothing at all. I remember them making a lot of televisions, was there anything remarkable about Philco laundry products? |

From what I've heard, they were yet another company that fell victim to the WCI monster sometime in the early-70s. Otherwise that ingenious Flex-a-Wash "flapper" design would probably be around today, IMHO. |

A friend of mine that works for and estate sale company saved me a newspaper ad from 1966 for one of our local (now gone) appliance stores. There's a full page, two color ad for the Frigidaire Electri-Clean 40" range and the facing page is an entire appliance/television/radio bonanza. Westinghouse, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, RCA Whirlpool, Philco... |
