Would love to see photos and any info . . . .

When I was about 4 years old, we got a used Kenmore automatic. I insisted on going with my dad and uncle one evening to pick it up. I fell asleep on the way home, I'm told.

The body of the cabinet was round like the shape of the tub. It had suds saver capability, but I don't think we could use it because we had only 1 laundry sink/drain. When we moved when I was 6, that house did have a double laundry sink ("stationary tub" as we called it) so the suds saver could be used.

I remember "helping" my dad drill holes in the concrete basement floor with a star drill and a hammer to bolt the machine down. Ditto in the new house.

It worked well, satisfied my mom for a long time. It was replaced eventually with a GE that spun the water out, often taking sox with it. A repair tech taught my mom how to lift the cover of the cabinet to remove sox.

Fortunately, I have not recovered from my interest in washing machines and any and all machines that work. My favorite toy (a gift from a neighbor when I was 3 or 4) an electric fan, I still have. I bought a probably 1940's GE oscillating fan and a Vornado fan. When riding in the car I would point out window exhaust fans, and, of course, whether they were running or not. Favorite was a neighbor's belt drive Hobart with 3 deeply pitched blades--producing a great pulsing sound.

Anyway, it's the Kenmore I'd like to see and learn more about.

Check the archives. Bolt-down Kenmores were plentiful, back in the day. Should be information out there. Last one I saw was at a friend's place in Tucson.
