I'm sad to say that the 1962 GE fridge and I are parting ways after three years. I cannot keep it repaired, which is unfortunate. I was so, so excited to have found this beautiful fridge, but I think it needs a home with someone who has the expertise to repair it themselves.
Thanks to everyone who helped me on my journey with the fridge. Everyone has been so helpful and nice. I appreciate all the great advice!

Hi Kelly, I am sorry that you could not find anyone to help fix this cool old ref, I wish we were closer to you.
The timer you bought would still allow the ref to run and cool even if it was bad, it was not wired correctly.
And in fact almost any defrost timer ever used can easily be wired into your ref and it would function properly.
It is too bad that there are not more techs out in the field that can understand and fix things.

Hi John,
I did find a repairman who can fix it, but it is going to cost another $1000 to fix it. We have already spent about $2k repairing it and another $1000 is asking a lot of my husband. I have tried to figure it out myself, but my repairman will not give me any other direction other than paying $1000 for the kit he wants to use. I value my repairman's expertise, he is very nice and has done a wonderful job with the prior repairs, but I just cannot afford him. He is the ONLY repair person I have found in the Denver area that would even touch a vintage refrigerator. So, it is what it is...
John, you have been so helpful and I appreciate your insight so much! Thank you!
