Prior to owning a Miele dishwasher I have only had Kitchenaid and Bosch machines where while they had problems, the racks never rusted even ten years on. That said the there are rust spots forming on parts of the lower rack not subject to wear from loading the dishwasher six years into the machine's life. An example spot is the rear of the rack facing the back of the tub, which has no contact with the tub.
I'm rather shocked that Miele's racks are not holding up in normal washing. Is there something that could have changed that is causing this problem, or do Miele's racks only last 5-6 years?
Rerack is something sold in hardware stores, but why do I believe the material does stay on the rack very long. What can I do to stop the progress of the rusting, or is Rerack the solution of choice?
