Does anyone want this little dryer ? I plugged it in and it works, it heated right up. The handle is broken. But easy fix.
It’s in Orlando’ Florida.

GE Portable Dryer

If you can use this dryer out on a porch or balcony it is actually the better 1/2 of this pair, these dryers dry well for a 120 machine.

I watched your Yourube videos. How do you get the washer to run with the top open? For the spin and rinse cycles.

Hahahah

I didn't even bother to take the top apart and "jump" the lid switch, so I went the jackass way.

I just unscrewed the lid hinges to clear the space and I put a stack of rubber washers ( First thing I saw i had next to me when i did it) in the lid switch using nose pliers (because my fingers are too thick)

All done in under 5 minutes.

if you were closer, I would LOVE to have it... Specially because it may be an interesting resource for a new design I'm working with.

Can you keep it for me for a few months? right at this moment with all this COVID madness I can't afford shipping.

Or... I can try to convince my boss to use the company's shipping account.

Yes. I will keep it for you for a bit.
At least until my new house is all done.
Glad it’s being saved by a member.

21" GE Portable Dryer

combo52's profile picture

This dryer was built in the US, GE forced the washer from Hitachi and it was built in Japan.

This little dryer is an interesting engineering exercise, it was very inexpensive to build and very clever and worked quite well except for the fact it could not be vented outside.

It forced the air through the drum like a Norge dryer and they figured out how to build it with just one thermostat.

It is interesting to compare this dryer to the 24" WP, the 24" MT Potra-Dryer, the 21" Norge and there was a 24" WCI dryer as well.

The MT was the smallest capacity followed by the GE, the GE was best for small places if you cannot vent it the MT better if you can vent. The other brands were all made in 240 or 120 volt and the Norge and WP also came in gas.
