RCA Whirlpool Electric. Nice shape inside and out, original owners manual. Missing a trim piece, and the knobs were rusty. Love the blue! Guessing early 60's?

Yes, I placed a bid, not much more than scrap price, we'll see what happens.

Interesting, particularly the color!

Is this a sort of Flair type of range?  If not, what is that horizontal stainless piece above the rear burners supposed to do?

The burners pull out, similar to a Flair. I'm curious as to the color, never knew WP with a blue.

Circa 1967

This is Whirlpool's Edged Sapphire, a color that was only available for about two years. Sears called it Shaded Slate on their Kenmore and Coldspot appliances. Kelvinator also had this color, as they supplied some Kenmore ranges. It wasn't a big seller, so rarely seen.

Good luck Kenny. Looks like it’s in pretty good condition. I do the same thing trying to save them from the crusher. There is currently 2 sets of washers and dryers covered under a tarp on the drive way because there is no more room.. I do enjoy it though and rarely regret bringing one home.

I'm betting a matching 'fridge would really look sharp in the kitchen!

Now when you win you know you will have to be on the hunt for that rare fridge.

Unfortunately, if you want to use all 4 burners, you have to crawl under the front half of the extended cooktop to get to the oven door. A customer on my paper route worked for Sears and had them do a big remodel. They put a similar Roper-built range in the kitchen and I noticed that as soon as I saw it. I don't know how you fixed a big holiday dinner with it, or in it or on it. This was around 1965. The washer had the letters to set the cycles on the timer dial, but not the lock stop timer.

The upper oven liner looks unused. With no upper heat during BAKE, you have to be very careful of the size pan you put in it to allow heat to circulate and reach the thermostat and not burn the edges of the food.

Stunning!

Wow! That is a really nice looking range; the color is gorgeous!! Hope you win it!

Tom’s observation regarding the lower oven is a design flaw. While the range may perform great, using it for a large meal would be a challenge. That aside it is one smart looking appliance. I love Whirlpools styling during this time period and through the 70’s.

Now all I need is a ‘63 Whirlpool dishwasher in turquoise, ‘63 Whirlpool fridge in turquoise, and a ‘63 Whirlpool stove in turquoise and I’ll have all turquoise Whirlpool appliances :). I already have a 1963 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set so that’s a start.

I have seen several WP Sapphire Blue Appliances

combo52's profile picture

We have a 1967 WP BD washer in Shaded Sapphire Blue that is getting restored at the warehouse.

This WP range was built by Roper, it looks to be in pretty good shape, Kenny is your Wife going to let you install it in the kitchen ?

These ovens might have Top-Heat, you will have to hook it up and find out.

My kitchen?

goatfarmer's profile picture

That's funny, John!  She's happy with the gas range that's there, I don't think she will change her mind.

Being mid 60's, has to be one of the last RCA Whirlpools I would think.

I'd be better off finding the same vintage in any color, and painting.

Well, 3 out of 4 burners work. The clock is kaput, along with the top oven. The bottom oven started to heat up, but then stopped. And it smells of mouse in the insulation.

The only thing it's got going for it now is the color.surprised
