Just the thing to keep teens and maybe a spouse out of your freezer stash. *LOL*

Not quite vintage enough for me, but it the interior sure does resemble my older Penncrest, which John L. advised was made by Franklin.

Sorry about the sideways thing on the interior shot.  That was taken just today with my iPhone and apparently there are still issues with how phone pix are being handled by browsers or whatever.  It displays properly when I view it in my gallery, but sideways when posted here, and after one failed attempt to fix it by rotating, I stopped trying.

The Gibson states that it's a commercial refrigerator and/or freezer. I've not seen one that can be either.

Ralph, it's possible that it may be similar to yours, even though somewhat newer. It appears to be recent enough to have been made after Gibson became part of WCI. Franklin was also a division of WCI by this time. Kelvinator, Gibson, and Hamilton laundry equipment became the Franklin design after those companies joined WCI.

Hi Tom,

The information you shared explains the likely connection.

Also, if picture #1 above is viewed in full size, the inserted key with a pink fob shows up.  It's a regular key and not the cylindrical burglar alarm type on the Gibson.

I think these are good freezers, and I'm happy to have magnetic gaskets and a soft-closing door.  Our previous '61 Wards freezer had a latching door that required a good push, and wasn't as nicely appointed as the Penncrest.

I paid $150 for the Penncrest a couple of years ago.  The Gibson is nice, but $500 seems pretty steep to me.
