looks to me like it has been repainted...notice the white start/stop knob and the different color paint around the decal. The price is in line with the restored Maytag wringers sold by Lehman's Hardware in Kidron, Ohio. |

Lovely machine, but if you watch Craig's List, you can pick up a Maytag with a lot of life left in it for well under $100. I own a Maytag E2L (the square tub variety), which I use as our primary machine in the summertime. Bought it on E-bay for $35. I had to replace the agitator, but that was it. It's in its third, trouble-free season, and the last patent on that machine is late 1939. (The only special concession I make is using it on a GFCI outlet) I love these machines, they agitate beautifully, and their turnover is very gentle and thorough. That, coupled with a rinse tub, makes them one of the most water and time-efficient machines around. I can get through our typical 5-7 loads of laundry in a couple of hours, have it all flapping in the breeze, and still have time for other stuff for the rest of my Saturday. Plus, I have a special sentimental attachment; that was the machine that got me interested in vintage automatics. I love the workmanship on the older machines; something you just cannot get in today's throwaway society. |

Gmmcnair:Good for you! I have my 1954 Commander going full steam ahead as I am typing this. It is a wonderful machine and can hardly be heard when in use. Drop me a note if you want to chat about wringers. Have fun. Gary |

I go thru Troy twice a year on my way to Weston Priory in Vermont where a high school chum is a Benedictine monk. Can't remember seeing you post before. So glad to meet you. I have a Norge "semi-automatic " wringer, but she's dying. I'd pay a good buck for a restored KM WP Norge or any other brand with a good pump and an automatic shut-off. How did I ever miss you. My all time favorite machine is the Easy Spin. Mike |
