I remember this Norge magazine ad from back in the day when I was ripping the appliance ads from the shelter magazines for my vast collection to reference every washing machine made. I was about the age of that boy in back holding the dog, with the "family jewels" revealed in his just right fitting comfortable jockey briefs for all the world to see. Wonder if they had any flack over this one?

Anyone remember in 1975 Sears Fall & Winter catalog pg 602? There was even a song recorded about it. There is one handsome all American young college looking male modeling printed pair boxer brief shorts, exposing what Sears called "A water spot on the printing plate error, not his penis exposed. My catalog is packed away, I didn't think it was water, do any of you?

Used this 14 lbs Norge & loved using it, was a true workhorse and unlike the "Timeline" had a bigger perforated tub such up to date style and detail.

Hit the link for a good laugh looking back at an innocent age.

Carry on & keep well

Something Similar in a Wards Sale Catalog...

This probably belongs in the “Dirty Laundry” forum, but I remember a big to-do about a Montgomery Ward sale catalog in the late 70s that had the word f&$k somehow etched into the background of a photo of a furniture page ad in the catalog. Did I dream this?

Hoooo-Booooyyyy!!!!

Just the thing to pop up as Pic Of The Day, when I need a handy washer (or maybe dryer) pic to put up to get someone out of my way when they need assistance at the self-checkout machines and equate assisting them with washer/dryer/appliance repair when most seem to drive me telling them to jump right in to their washer withnthise clothes next time they do their laundry!

Where's a Frigidaire Jet Cone when I need it?!--oh, on the AW Homey Page....

Yow, finally realized there’s a WASHER there, trying now to read all the details on all that small print while there’s ONE MINUTE left before POD changes...

That poor woman with nine kids! This ad is borderline kiddy porn!

I would say that it is a borderline birth control ad.

This POD has been cycling through for at least 14 years.  I have it saved in my POD folder, file date 3/27/2006.

The Man on page 602

I saw this the day the catalog arrived. This is not a water spot on the page!
The model later sued Sears for something like 7 million, and won. Sears said the person proofing these pages had been out sick, and when he came back, they were late getting it to print, so they sent it in unseen. I myself think the guy should be proud, for it was quite a shot! I still have the catalog!
Hugs,
David

The article linked in the first post regarding "the man on page 602" advises that the photo was run in the 1975 Spring/Summer catalog without the "blemish" and reused for the 1975 Fall/Winter catalog on which it occured ... which supports it being a printing glitch on the rerun.  Perhaps someone, somewhere, has original issues of the two catalogs for confirmation?

I'm quite certain I still have both those catalogs, but they are boxed up at storage - 20 minutes away. It would take moving a lot of stuff around to access them.

I well remember all the talk at the time this happened. If I remember correctly, Glenn is right that the Spring/Summer edition was as intended.
