It only took 14 years..... To go from this, to this. It is a cabinet from a 1958 Norge Timeline, that was rescued from a junkyard after 40 years. Kenny and I pulled this out of an abandon junkyard in the spring of 2006. (how much the world has changed since then.....) The washer took 2 other scrap machines to complete, and the mechanical part of the machine has been finished for at least 5 years. Was just waiting for the cabinet repair to be done.

That red ........

looks great Rick!

Just curious, did Norge ever have that color or is that a take on the FD Poppy Red?

Even though I'm not a Norge fan (understatement, I know), I have to say that they really upped their game by 1958 with vastly improved styling on the console.  That's going to be a real head-turner once it's completed!

Thank you for the nice comments! This cabinet was only painted yesterday morning. My friend, Tim brought that parts over to my house this morning. It is all down the basement now. I am going to wait a week or so for the paint to harden, before putting this all back together. This machine is a very cool looking 1950's example of MCM styling. The colour is actually 1961 Oldsmobile red! The paint is over 20 years old, but it is still good. And I still have 3/4 of a gallon can left over...

My aunt and uncle had that Olds in plain white, but probably not as nice a model.  By 1967 it was a total dog performance-wise.  Of course, my dad was driving it since I was still too young, and it was being compared to our new silver '67 Delmont 88 with 425 engine, so there's that.  We traded cars so the Delmont could be used for the bride and groom at my cousin's wedding.

it's one of my favorite years though never found the right one! The car in the front of the '61 brochure is a 98 4 dr hardtop in that color. Should be a 394 with Slim Jim (not the best of GM trans). I've loved Olds forever and started the OCA Blue & Gray Chapter (PA and MD) in 1984. Still have a '69 Cutlass.

My bio on classicoldsmobile.com:

Founder of OCA Blue & Gray Chapter
Olds previously owned:
1936 Series F-36 sedan, 1947 78 Dynamic club coupe, 1950 98 sedan, 1956 98 Holiday sedan, 1956 Super 88 convert, 1957 Super 88 convert, 1958 Super 88 Sedan, 1965 Dynamic 88 convert, 1969 Toronado Custom (x 3), 1972 Cutlass S coupe, 1973 Delta 88 sedan, 1974 Delta 88 sedan, 1974 98 LS sedan, 1976 98 LS sedan, 1977 Delta 88 sedan. Currently looking for: 1968/69 Cutlass Holiday sedan ... Found!

1961 Oldsmobile

A Heavy Duty Hydramatic (4 speeeds) was available for $14.xx more than the "light" version. (It was standard on Cadillacs until mid 1964.)

The 1961 Oldsmobile 88 in the picture above would have a 394 engine, but it could be either a 2bbl regular or premium fuel, or a 4bbl, and if it's a Starfire, it has a special version of the 394 with 345hp.

BTW, I got all this from the website "Old Car Manual Project."

Oldsmobile

The car photo was only posted to show the colour. If you check out this thread, it will show the dash shot of the Oldsmobile. It has a 394 Four barrel, with 325 HP. Roto Hydramatic transmission.

Where did you take it to get painted, if I may ask?

O'Daniel Ford, in Fort Wayne. I have a friend that works there. He has painted cars, and appliances for me. We have been friends for 35 years.
