My 7 year old Miele front loader washer/dryer is being retired. The spider corroded away and it will cost close to $1000 to get a replacement (spider is only sold with a new inner drum - not sold separately) plus bearings/seal. This is a 220v 50 hz machine. It is in excellent condition and was working perfectly until the spider failed - no leaks and no problems.
I removed the drum to ascertain the problem, so the machine is in pieces (but every single item is still here.
I have decided to rather buy a new Samsung washer/dryer.
If there is any tinkerer out there that needs a complete machine for spares (most Miele washers use similar parts) or even wants to spend the money replacing the spider/drum, it is available for free to a private individual (but not to a commercial enterprise).
The down side is that you need to come get it from St Michaels, MD - with muscle to load and a suitable vehicle within the next 10 days or so.
I can be contacted via email: nmace@nous.co.za
