sorry for the crappy pics, they're off my phone..... the Canadian the top load portable with the Jet-Swirl was never produced in the US. Instead, a top-load D&M was fitted with a Westinghouse label! They also produced impeller models with this style of controls. |

The Canadian appliance business was more fragmented than the US business--more brands and lines to fill up; and fewer factories to do it. I think there were still some tariff barriers until the 80s...there was a significant amount more re-labeling of the same unit for multi-brands; yet they couldn't get away with being significantly technologically behind the US (given media and retail accessibility to the majority of the population)
