Can't edit so I'll post another reply:
I've also heard that Bosch/Siemens washers with the 4D-Wash system also utilize variable speed drain/recirculation pumps. According to a friend of mine, it ramps up if it detects a lot of water being extracted in spin. Otherwise, it runs at a very low (and quiet) speed once initial draining completes. |

At least my EU version of the LG had a DC inverter drain pump but it always ran at one speed. Miele has or had them to allegedly on some PowerWash 2.0 machines. |
