Nice looking unit. I'll be interest to see the interior and your reports.

(My Bosch SHU-43CU is still going strong after 15 years, but I'm interested in what others have).

Pierre, I would imagine the software and energy start requirements aren't much different than my 5 year old KithcenAid produced Kenmore Elite. My observation is with selecting Sani Rinse, the man wash water temperature is higher than the main wash water temperature with the high temp only and as expected, the final rinse is also higher. Also, with Sani Rinse option selected, an additional rinse after the main wash is added- for a total of three after wash rinses. Also, I have observed even thought I select extended heat dry, the heating element during dry is not turned on at all or very little when sani rinse is selected. So I suggest just selecting Pro Wash & Sani Rinse. You don't need to also add high temp wash heat dry at the same time.

thank you appnut i think my mom and i will be satisfied with the kitchenaid if i can will try to take a pic before starting the first cycle if the dishwasher is full and i wonder if i should stick to finish quantum ultra detergent pods or go with cascade platinum i prefer finish since it tends to produce less suds in the machine and an after pic dishwasher will be install october 28

Mine is

the Kenmore built by Whirlpool. I use Smart wash, high-temp wash and heat dry. Kitchenaid is actually produced by Whirlpool like Maytag is.

With the Maytag dishwasher that I bought last year, I never use any of the cycle options, like Hi-Temp, or Sani wash. Or the Powerblast wash, whatever it is called. I only used Auto cycle, no heat dry, or even just the Normal cycle, no heat dry. It always takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Everything is always clean. I don't see the need to select any of these options, that lengthen the cycle time, and use more energy, when the regular Auto, or Normal cycle cleans just as well.

Oooh that's the machine I have my eye on!! I think the FreeFlex 3rd racks are neat and competitive, but I'd rather have the normal 3rd rack and get more head room for the upper rack since the entire tub on this design has been even further deepened. My only reservation about the 204 is that it has a manual filter, but the next step would be the 404 so far, which gets the spinning micro filter system but also the gargantuan third rack. I'm holding out that maybe they'll add a 300 series to compromise the two and still offer the front control design.

Seriously, if you can find a store with the GlobalWash models next to these machines, the tub is much lower, the lower arm practically skates over the tub bottom, and the bottom rack wheels are modified to let that rack hover just over the door. Even the door itself is almost laying on the floor. I can't believe WP isn't marketing the crap out of this machine because not only do they have an entirely unique pump/filter system, they also have the most innovative 3rd rack on the market AND have the tallest tubs.

Whirlpool, if you're listening, you have a golden opportunity to absolutely kill the competition and bring us back to the days of having brochures and advertising that actually shows how the machines WORK inside. I'm tired of marketing for appliances these days that talks about everything except what's actually under the hood or how it operates.

Whirlpool DWs with spinning MicroClean filter

Not so far, but it's possible they may add a model to the top end line with it. Typically the 900-series Whirlpool dishwashers are identical to their KitchenAid or Kenmore Elite sisters, just with a WP badge and slight cosmetic differences. The 920 model I had is built exactly like the KitchenAids, same amount of insulation, rack glides, build quality, etc. And they currently already have a Whirlpool with the fancy spray tube 3rd rack, and it's the very TOL model right now which is the WDTA80. I'd imagine we might see a 9xx or A9x model pop up in the next few months with the MicroClean system offered.
