The camera angle was a perfect shot from the sink side of the table right into the laundry room. The washer had the big early 60s Frigidaire light above the control panel. I have no idea if it was really a Frigidaire because the Kenmore dryer next to it had a bank of colorful buttons on either side of the timer knob so I don't know what they were up to in the props department.

Mama was someone who didn't have a lot of extra money. The machines were probably 20 years old at that time. Wouldn't have been uncommon for someone with not a lot of money to have a mismatched older set.

We had a mismatched

set from day one! Brand new too! The washer was a floor model, and turquoise. So a good buy. The dryer white, on sale, and in a box. A dryer usually outlasted a washer, so many had unmatched ones.

Do y'all think that the washer could be a Frigidaire?

I grew up with mismatched ones as well. A 1962 Frigidaire Custom Deluxe washer and a mid 50s Maytag dryer. My Mom says they bought the Maytag dryer new along with two other neighbors so they could share use of the dryer and not have to hang things on the clothes line. My Mom hated the washer...she kept a large wooden spoon handy to push the clothes down. She must have not read the loading instructions..!

A bit of irony seeing a Frigidaire Jet Cone washer, amongst a Kenmore dryer and Coldspot bottom freezer fridge...

(And dishwasher?) (Range?)

That Frigidaire Washer's control panel predates the Jet Cone Agitator, at least I think it does. That looks like 1963.

The dishwasher is a GE Mobile Maid like the one we got in 1960.
