Nate was helping me with project of washing albs for my parish, St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal, Tucson, AZ. Note suds cake in Kenmore. But the Thor has much more gentle action, so the same amount of detergent looked low-sudsing.

You can still see the agitator, even with the suds cake.

And now for the Thor, with its gentle action. Please note the bluing, used along with hot water and bleach, for white albs.

I'd call that a suds mountain. Indeed, it is the BobLoad® of suds cakes, LOL.

Gives a whole new meaning to a suds-locked Kenmore!

Tell us more about the Thor Automagic, Ross. You've had it running for a little while now - what do you think?

hi greg...Thor is working great but you cannot put large loads into the machine....been sort of ignoring other machines a bit and giving more attention the thor for now...

I think that suds cake in the bolt down is cute Ross. Was that produced by a straigh vane or the black super roto swirl you had in it when I was there. I do notice that my prego black roto swirls do produce the suds as opposed to other agis. I wished someone made a real low sudser like Sears used to have as I love watching the clothes slosh around while the water turns murkier and murkier and don't like looking at a lot of suds.

Yes, I am also interested in hearing more about your Thor and hopefully seeing it in action next spring.

I certainly hope I have the bolt down going when you visit me next January. I'm still deciding where I'm going to put it so I can use the suds saver. You know, we can always play with it and hold on to it when it goes into spin if we have to. ((--::

Attached pic is of Patrick and I loading the 53 into the truck at my friends house in Portland. Very nice man and his collection is very nice and getting larger and larger.

Very fun Ross! I bet that made for a big suds lock in the bolt-down Kenmore during the first spin.

Spin?

Yeah, did it even spin at all? Holy cow. Must've been a mess to get rid of all those suds.

As much as I'm Kenmore Fan #1, they weren't reknowned for their spin cycle. But the sound it makes getting into spin cycle makes up for it :-)

so cool that you're washing albs

for the uninitiated, think full-length night shirt or tunic or shoulder-to-ankle robe, and pure white.

after washing machines, my favorite unusual interest is religious garb, male and female.

aren't you just lovin' that Thor.

Bolt-downs thors, and albs-- I can't wait to come down.

albs

Thanks for clarifying what albs are. I had no idea (duh)

I went to Industrial Chemicals of Arizona and bought a few bottles of carpet defoamer which works great on gettting rid of the suds. I ad it just before wash cycle ends.

over sudsing

An inexpensive way to "defoam " is to put a regular bar of soap in the washer- in just a few minutes run time the suds will disapear then remove the bar.

My mom says a bit of fabric softener does the trick too.

I'm jealous, I haven't gotten a washer to overfoam in ages :(

The closest i've gotten was a tumbler at the laundromat. Not as much fun.

That Surgilator really does make some good suds-cakes; we had a nice one going last April during the wash-in! Complete with bluing and parish head-garments (someone please correct me on the proper term for these) as well! Ross, were you using lavender Viva this time as well?

Here's a picture I snapped of the last one...definitely not as high, but a good suds-cake nonetheless!

Dick, Sears still sells a low-suds detergent. It comes in a couple of variations, but make sure you get the buckets that have the "he" on them. I've used their detergents in my TL Lady K for quite a feew years now and am very pleased with the ressults. You should be able to see all the murky action you're pning for. Seeing your face, I can hear ya talking like you were in Tucson. Makes me realize justh ow much I miss you and everyone else that was there.

Dick I have to agree with Bob, the Sears detergent is great. I have been using the HE one with Oxiclean in it with great results. Terry

I always thought Frigdiares and GE's reigned Supreme as suds-makers, but I have seen my mom's 800 whip up a suds volcano or two in my lifetime (probably caused by me).
