Cannot be sure but one may have seen that old coin payment system before.
Instead of controlling washer or dryer, coins control power to machines. Much like coin meters in UK or other parts of Europe where one had to pay to turn on gas or electric. electricmeters.co.uk/adjusting-m... |

@Basement washing
Most places today would have a "route" company so washers and dryers would come from same brand. Though there could be a mix depending upon what sort of equipment property owner believes best would suit needs. www.fowlercompanies.com/n... mla-online.com/MLAOnline/Resourc... aeilaundry.com/multifamily-laund... |

![]() And the Kenmore Combo sitting to the left of the 1962-3 WH Slant Front Washer.
I lot of appliances that were used as stage props were placed there by people not as knowledgeable about appliances as the folks here on AW.
There is about no likely hood that a GE or KM combination would have ever been placed in an apartment building common laundry room.

![]() I think they made the same mistake on Green Acres, looks like a Westinghouse (or Norge?)Combo and we know it was also a Maytag Combo, but who cares! It was an anarchic show and why shouldn't the Douglas' kitchen have riotously badly painted Pink Combos side by side. We would expect nothing less from the storehouses of Mr. Haney.

Reading this the other day got me to watching a couple of the old Rhoda shows on Youtube.. One was I think entitled Rhoda Meets the Ex-Wife. where she goes to meet husband Joes ex.. (played by Joan Van Ark) It was hilarious, albeit because of Ida (Nancy Walker) .. I'l link it below.
