I have two Kitchenaid Dishwashers in my garage that I would like to find a good home for. I had hoped to use them but due to some personal issues it looks like that will not be happening.

Anyway, I have a KDS-18 and KDS-17A. The 18 is not working but has new racks and a new door seal. It is in pretty good shape inside and out. I can provide additional information on what happened when I was using it if needed.

I purchased the 17 from an individual who was using it up until about a month ago when it was taken out for a remodel. It was delivered to me but I have not tested it myself. It is a little rough on the inside but the exterior is in great condition.

I really hate to let these go but I just don't things are going to work out for me to get them up and running. I will try to get some pictures added to this post later this evening.

Mark

I can get more detailed pics if anyone is interested in either or both machines.

Nice machines and a world of difference between them.

Friday the 13th is a terrible time to pull the pin on anything big and these qualify as BIG. Whether it is a matter of space or a tragic situation or a financial one causing you to liquidate them don't do anything rash quickly. The KDS18, with some modifications, is the apotheosis of KitchenAid Dishwashers and if you get rid of it you might not ever find another. I was living in an efficiency apartment when the 18 series was introduced in 1977. I have shlepped the KDS58 around with me for 43 years. You do not want to abandon a treasure like that if at all possible.

I agree Tom

I would love nothing more than to find someone locally who would look at one or both of these machines and let me know what it would take to get them running. I have searched high and low and cannot find anyone who will touch them.

I grew up using the KDS-18 that my parents purchased in 1977 and know what amazing machines these are. I was so excited to find it at a local thrift store. I paid $25 for it, brought it home, was able to hook it up in my garage and test it out. It functioned as normal with the exception of a small leak in the lower right corner. I purchased new racks and a new door seal online.

I spent $200 having my Bosch dishwasher taken out and the KA installed. On the 11th day of use, there was a loud pop which blew the breaker and the machine was dead. No smoke or burning smell, it just would not come back on even after resetting the breaker.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances beyond my control, my window of opportunity to enjoy these machines is closing which is why I have offered them up here. If anyone knows of someone who would be willing to troubleshoot either or both of these, I would be very grateful.

Two Blasts From The Past:

So cool.

My aunt and uncle in Virginia bought the dishwasher on the left in 1974, which I think it was in gold. They bought my grandparents the dishwasher on the right as a Christmas present in 1976, and that was in stainless steel.
