Hi,

I'm really just wondering what anyone can tell me about these, since I've never seen them before.
My in-laws briefly had a Maytag Centennial set. Actually, they still have the dryer.
But these are something different, with the panels designed to harken back to the old center dial models.
Were these any good as far as function? I know my mother-in-law hated the Centennial washer, which is why they only have the dryer today.
I posted them in this section even though I'm only looking for information, because I thought someone else might be interested in buying them, if they're something special.

Thanks,
Barry

These would have been one of whirlpool’s first rendition of the Maytag washer and dryer in 2006-2007 after acquiring Maytag. These were good machines predating the redesign to come in 2009-2010. Would’ve been the 100 year anniversary.

So, do these predate the Centennial line? And work better? I was always under the impression that the Centennial line was to commemorate the 100th Anniversary.
I don't remember exactly what the MIL didn't like about the Centennial washer, other than saying it didn't wash worth a lick.
Did they make a lot of these with the gold on the panels? I just thought it was strange that I've never seen this design before.

As far as I know the anniversary machines were one year only. So those gold trimmed machines were only made for a year to my knowledge. The centennial line continued through 2013 maybe and looked pretty much the same on the outside but the inside changed to the electronic design where one of the washers had the wash plate vs. an agitator.

Those machines were direct drive until 2010.

Centennial is a marketing label, on various models of different mechanical designs (direct-drive, belt-drive VMW, and possibly SmartDrive VMW).

The lack of cycle progress lights (mechanical timer) is the tell-tale that this is an "old-style" direct-drive washer, not a VMW.

There was another Maytag set that had came out a couple of years ago (2015 or so?) that looked alot more like the original Center-dial Maytags?
