Hi all,

I have a now 10 year old direct drive Amana washer that's in trouble.. I was washing a load of laundry, everything was fine untill it finished with the wash cycle.

It never went into drain.. I started messing with the dial in different settings. The wash part of the cycle works in all cycles (Normal, permanent press, handwash) but drain (rinse)and spin doesn't work on any of them. When you pull the dial it does nothing..

I replaced the lid switch yesterday thinking that was the issue but it didnt work..

Any ideas? Could I possibly be looking at a new timer?

Any input is appreciated!

could be the timer....or the capacitor, or the motor....

If it just dies and goes quiet it is either the lid switch or the timer.

If it hums and tries to run it could be one of several different things.

@combo52

Yes, exactly it is completely dead and silent, no humming at all when you turn dial to drain/rinse and spin. After it washes the timer is stuck there and wont advance to drain, rinse, spin etc.

I've already replaced lid switch but no luck.. I'll look into a new timer and hope that solves the issue because those aren't cheap! Thanks
