Claire McCardell is the featured designer for this ad and it was produced just a year before her death.  Her life story is fascinating. She was born in Frederick , MD and died in 1958. She is known for fashion innovations.

One of the fabrics that was weaker in water was Rayon. I remember going into the Economy Auto Store and pulling the tub back and forth and side to side with the ball point balance feature.  WE found the matching dryer in good shape but some jack leg putterer had removed pulleys and other stuff.

A very interesting article, thank you for the link.  She sounds like a very creative woman, such a shame that she died so young.

Very true. It's sad to see anyone die so young. Colon cancer can be an awful diagnosis. Many famous people have succumbed to this terrible disease. Audrey Hepburn, Farrah Fawcet, Jack Lemmon, Milton Berle,  Jackie Gleason, Elizabeth Montgomery, Ertha Kitt...the list goes on and on. Last February I was diagnosed with between stage 2 and 3 colon cancer. The doctor that discovered the illness said there has been amazing developments in the last 10 years in the treatment of colon cancer and I put a lot of faith in that statement. Now, after the initial surgery, chemo and radiation that had almost no bad effects on me, and then the second surgery in November to "put things back to the way they were" called an illeostomy take-down resulting in no colostomy bag smile I am now said to be cancer-free. The oncologist said I was "cured" of course we all know there is no cure for cancer

2020 has been a bad and difficult year for many people. For me, it was a very good year with a "Cinderella Story" happy ending. One of the surgeons told me I should consider every day a gift. Good advice considering today is my birthday. I hope everyone tries to look forward to a decent 2021 and maintains a positive outlook for this new year. Stay safe and healthy.
