So I have an idea . I have a good condition short centrepost baseplate. I am planning on using heat shrink on the centrepost to keep it from getting rusted out . I ordered adhesive backed heat shrink but I am considering putting a 3rd upper seal and driving it halfway into the post and the top half would seal against the heat shrink so none of the metal is exposed to water at all . What could go wrong ??? Ideas and input appreciated. This machine had the seal go bad so the inner part of the centrepost has to be cleaned up but the outside is in pretty good shape for it’s age

Sounds like a good idea but painting the short center post with POR15 is much simpler and easier. I painted the tall center post on my ‘63 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII washer with POR15 since had surface corrosion on it.
