Interesting, like a Kitchen Briva but you can't convert the dishwasher into a sink . I wonder if the lid pops up with the cycle is complete?

Several things of interest according to the owners manual:
Has a dish cleaning cycle and a produce cleaning cycle
Requires of 240V connection
Even though there is a heavy, normal, and light cycle the manual suggest one should prerinse their dishes.

Something like that would be handy to quickly clean lightly soiled prep dishes. At $1500 though I think you could buy a regular sink and have plenty of money left over for a regular dishwasher that doesn't require prerinsing.

Top Loading DW-Sink

Thanks for posting this Phil, I was always disappointed that KA pulled these off the market so fast, they never let any demand build for them.

This DW design is perfect foe easy use without bending over and the you consider that most people pre-rinse anyway and everyone loves playing with water so I dare say these would be well liked if people actually tried them.

The major problem with selling them is you need to incorporate it in to the kitchen when you are building it.

Interesting concept, I see it either working amazingly well (though 56 dB is awfully loud) or good luck getting it serviced...I think I've seen those cooktops with the slanted controls under other brands (Frigidaire?) recently.

Interesting but challenging.

Right at this moment I'm actually working on a similar project, however, the main concern is the sewer pipe height in most homes.

Kitchen Drain Pipe Height

Anyone installing a new kitchen with one of these DWs can easily lower the drain pipe height if needed.

This is done all the time, with the trend toward deep kitchen sinks + a disposer the drain pipe height is usually less than 12"high on the back wall anyway, plenty low enough for a counter mounted DW & Sink.

Also interesting:

How is "sterilization" and "bacteria elimination" achieved at temps of "113 to 158"?

How would "pasteurizing" convection be different from non?

Given the above claims, how/why is there no NSF approval?

240V connection required. This makes it a non-starter in many/most older homes.

Granted a sink is included but $1500 and you want me to pre-rinse? Thank you, no. When I have my own kitchen to remodel to my tastes I'll keep the sink and add a dish drawer that doesn't require pre-rinsing.

As much as my back is excited about not stooping, I'll give it a pass.

Just what the doctor ordered

I want one of these! Thank you for posting this. Having a small sink connected dishwasher will address my needs perfectly. The question, of course, is how well will this perform and for how long. I think it's worth a shot.

According to ServSafe, sanitization can occur at temperatures above 150 F if maintained more than a couple of minutes.
