Tonight on my walk saw a Kenmore Elite Ultrawash dishwasher put at the curb. I was surprised how nice it was - all touchpad controls, stainless steel interior, NSF certified rinse. Black in color, I would guess early/mid 2000s maybe?

Anyway, I imagine the pump was bad was why it got replaced. It didn't have the bottom panel and the lower rack and baskets were missing.

Was it a power clean or a point voyager? People throw all really nice things all the time for strange reasons.

I did not get a good look as it was getting dark and I didn't have my phone with me. I will try to snap a photo tomorrow after work if the scrap man doesn't get to it first.

Advertising, marketing

and sales are the name of the game! Without catchy names, and slogans, not much sells. It psychological too. We want, and they make our needs become wants too.

Not a Point Voyager!

Cole mentioned that the lower panel was missing. Point Voyagers were the Tall tub machines and had the single door panel that went almost to the floor. Most likely a Power Clean/Ultra Wash based machine.

Yes it was definitely Ultra Wash based. I saw the Ultra Wash name on the sticker inside the top of the door like my parent's Ultra Wash has.

I believe they have used the UltraWash label for several generations of machines, not just the Powerclean based ones. If it really is a PC system it would be worth nabbing...the SS tank ones where pretty rare birds.

SS Tub Standard Tub Ultra-Wash DW

These were very good machines, it could have been replaced for many reasons, the most likely serious reason would be a bad touch control panel or bad main board, both NLA, there are at least 20 other reasons that someone would have replaced this nearly 20 YO DW right down to rusted racks.
