Hello All
Thank you for all posts relating to replacing tub bearing and seal on old (1979) A806 Washer with a pitman style transmission Finally got it all put back together after a year of on and off working on it Its now sitting beside its sister (1979) Dryer -= great matching pair again Did a dry spin to seat carbon ring Then i did a test run fill the tub (small) (empty no clothes) and ran it Agitator seems to work fine When it goes into a full spin to empty the tub Machine seems not balance and whole washer is wobbling Do i need to balance the tub ? - Concerned Bill |

Yes.
Every write-up and YouTube video I've seen fails to mention centering the inner tub before further assembly. They just slap the inner tub in and crank down on the tub nut. This step is critical for maximum life out of the tub bearing and damper pads. It also affects spin performance, especially during the spin spray rinse. Remove the top tub cover. Tape down the lid to keep the lid switch from tripping and lift the entire top up and hinge it back (after removing the 2 bolts and bleach hose if you haven't done so already). Select the spin cycle and watch the balance of the inner tub in relation to the outer. When adjusted correctly, the inner tub should spin up smoothly with no wobble. If not, loosen the lock nut and reposition the tub. Keep at it until the inner tub runs perfectly balanced. Some tub are pickier than others. I have had few that took me 30 minutes until I got the results I was looking for. One tub was so far off, I glued sticky tire weights to the imbalanced side. Must have been balanced on a Monday or Friday. |

Hello All
Today -i finally accessed the inner tub again, to level it Took a level to the inner tub and outer tub Levelled both In a test spin, the whole A806 washer doesn't vibrate anymore - GOOD !! However, while in the test spin, the outer tub which is riding on the spring tensioners - is moving somewhat -while inner tub is spinning Is this normal for the outer tub to move How much, if any movement, is allowed for the outer tub - while in spin mode ?? Hoping i'm close to completing this rebuild soon Bill |

Yes. Did you lubricate the damper pads? |
