Looks like the same 1968 model in Louisville that was on FBM a while back.

Find some ejector-compatible ice trays and that box will be 100% complete!

Had Frigidaire stopped using the little resistor thing that caused defrost cycle failure by the time this fridge was manufactured?  This is a major concern for me with Frigidaires from the early '60s, so I'm wondering if/when they stopped using this troublesome component.

Little resistor Thing ??

Hi Ralph, Are you talking about a defrost drain heater ?

A drain heater is technically a resistor of course and almost all early Frost Free refs used drain heaters.

FD was a very reliable FF refrigerator as were other major brands, problem is very few are lasting 50+ years or even much over 30 years.

The only real exception are GE Hot-Gas defrost systems, which also use a drain heater.

John, as I recall this was indirectly related to the heater and required removal of the freezer floor and/or other interior trim pieces.  I'll see if I can dig up an old thread about it.  There's more than one IIRC.

Hi John,  I found the thread, and yes it's the drain heater (seen at front left in the picture).  Much more tear-down to get at the thing than I remembered.

The big problem

With the older frigidaire frost frees, is that the defrost heaters hang up and melt all the freezer plastic, so many were ruined by this.
