Sunbeam Can Opener

I had that Sunbeam "total clean" can opener/knife sharpener back in the 1970's. The avocado color matched my cabinets and countertops.
When the avocado kitchen was redecorated, the can opener went.

#1 -- I remember those System 3 phone-TVs on the market but don't recall anyone who had one.

#9 -- Granny had a Total Clean can opener.  Excellent design.  Worst thing about my B&D is difficulty cleaning the mechanism.

Zenith Space Phone...

twintubdexter's profile picture

This was the time period I was just starting as a television buyer for a large department store chain based in San Francisco. We sold a lot of those Space Phone models although I think the phone part had little to do with sales. Customers shopped brand and cabinet style back then when buying consoles. I don't recall many problems with Space Phone. Now Magnavox's "Star System" (first TV with on-screen channel display) was a different story.

My sister's TV has that answering the phone with caller ID. Pretty neat. It flashes the number on the screen.

Re: Reply #14

Every since we switched our phone service to Comcast about 6 years ago now we’ve had caller ID on the TV screen.  The first time I saw it I thought, what the hell is this?  Now I don’t know how we ever got along without it!  When 90% of the calls are spam callers I never answer the phone unless I know the caller.  If its important they’ll leave a VM.

And now those GD robo callers leave VM’s, which PO’s me too!  Then I have to spend time clearing that nonsense.  We’ve been registered with the “Do Not Call Registry” since its inception.  That agency is a big waste of money, totally ineffective and useless.

And now NOMOROBO has pretty much ceased to be effective at intercepting these spam calls most of the time too.  These crooks with the scam/spam calls are relentless.

Richard Deacon was one of the few TV actors to play two popular characters on different shows at the same time, Fred Rutherford on Leave It To Beaver and Mel Cooley on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Those ads are fun. Thanks for posting.

Phyllis Diller had St. Louis connections, hence Emerson Electric's use of her here...this was mid-60s, I'd guess.

Have two of the Zenith Trans-Oceanic radios--one at work-other at home. The one at work bought from a co-worker-in excellent shape! The one at home a mover mistook it for a sewing machine!and he put the radio's tag on---my sewing machine in a similar case.
